Youth Ministry Position

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church is seeking an enthusiastic individual to serve as part-time Youth Minister (12 hours per week) whose primary responsibility will be to develop a youth ministry program that will be:

            *a part of all of our students’ religious life,

            *an integral part of our religious education program, and

            *a safe place for youth to explore and deepen their faith, see models of Catholic life, and

be encouraged to a life of faith, hope, and charity. 

 

The responsibilities of the Youth Minister are to:

 

1.  work with the parish Director of Religious Education to design the curriculum for jr. high and

high school Sunday morning religious education classes;

2.  teach the high school Sunday morning class from a youth ministry focus, with the help of

volunteers;

3.  coordinate the Confirmation preparation program;

4.  conduct at least two annual retreats for our youth—one for the middle grades and one for high

school;

5.  encourage greater youth participation in parish liturgies;

6.  develop and coordinate other activities promoting faith, fun, and service, at least one

quarterly;

7. reach out to our parish’s college students and recent college graduates as potential volunteers

within the youth program;

8.  work closely with the parish Youth Ministry Advisory Committee.

 

Qualities desired:

 

1.  enthusiasm and an approach which links faith with fun whenever appropriate;

2.  ability to relate to youth, lead prayer and foster prayer, and bring faith into conversation with

them;

3.  knowledgeable about the Catholic faith and effective youth ministry strategies, with a

willingness to continue learning.
